What To Watch This Week

This might be my least favorite month for television.  Some of my favorite new shows have been canceled and their season finales are also their series finales.  A lot of shows are wrapping up this week, so make sure you tune in so that your DVR queue can be free for the summer premieres of Pretty Little Liars, America’s Got Talent, and Teen Wolf!

Aside from season finales, there’s not a lot on this week.  So instead of watching Hart of Dixie from your couch on Friday, grab some friends and head to the movie theater to see Jon Hamm in Million Dollar Arm or Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler in Blended.  But until then, get these season finales out of the way!

Coldplay: Ghost Stories – 7 PM – NBC

Don’t miss this hour-long special where Coldplay will perform songs from their new album “Ghost Stories.”  If you’ve been in need of some new music lately, this ought to help you out.

Saturday Night Live – 11:29 PM – NBC

The multi-talented Andy Samberg hosts the season 39 finale of SNL with performances by St. Vincent. It’s been a while since he’s been on, so I’m hoping that some of his former castmates will make surprise appearances to close out the show.

Billboard Music Awards 2014 – 8 PM – ABC

The stars will align!  Live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, expect all your favorite chart-topping artists in one place.  I’m talking everyone from country crooner Luke Bryan, to Latin songstress Jennifer Lopez, to Aussie rockers 5 Seconds of Summer! These are only a few names of the many performers, so make sure you tune in to see who will win big and who will rock the house!

Dancing With The Stars – 8 PM – ABC

It’s the tenth and final week of performances; four couples will dance-battle it out for the DWTS Mirror Ball Trophy!

The Voice – 8 PM – NBC

It’s the final countdown!  Or really, the final performances.  Who will take it home?  Josh Kaufman from Team Usher, Christina Grimmie from Team Adam, or Jake Worthington from Team Blake?  Don’t forget to vote!

The Bachelorette – 9:30 PM – ABC

FINALLY!  Last season of The Bachelor‘s smartest girl–who told Juan Pablo that it is NOT “okay”–Assistant District Attorney Andi Dorfman will meet her 25 suitors at the infamous cocktail party.  Who will stay and who will be sent home on the first night?  The only way to find out is to watch!

The Maya Rudolph Show – 10 PM – NBC

Maya Rudolph’s very own variety show; it’s basically television’s Christmas.  The hour-long special will feature skits and musical performances; some of the guests include Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen, Sean Hayes, and Kristen Bell, to name a few.  My only question is why did this not happen much sooner?

American Idol – 8 PM – FOX

Another night of final performances, but this time for Idol.  Two rockers Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson will go head-to-head for the title of the next American Idol.

The Voice – 9 PM – NBC

In the live season 6 finale, a winner will be chosen!  Also, there will be performances by Coldplay, OneRepublic, Tim McGraw, and Ed Sheeran.  It’s a night you won’t want to miss!

Dancing With The Stars – 9 PM – ABC

A winner will be crowned in the season 18 finale of DWTS.  We won’t know who is a final contender until the night before, but who do you think will take home the trophy?  Meryl Davis, Candace Cameron Bure, James Maslow, or Amy Purdy?  It’s really anyone’s game!

American Idol – 8 PM – FOX

Jena Irene or Caleb Johnson will be named the Season 13 winner of American Idol.  Hoping to draw in some more viewers, Idol has lined up performances from Paramore, Kiss, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, Jason Mraz, and more!  Sounds like a party you won’t want to miss.

The Middle – “Orlando” and “The Wonderful World of Hecks” – 8 PM – ABC

We’re being treated to two back-to-back episodes for the 5th season finale.  Last week, Sue won a trip to Disney World, so definitely expect the Hecks to take Orlando in a wonderfully dysfunctional fashion.

Modern Family – “The Wedding Part 2” – 9 PM – ABC

Will Cam and Mitch finally get married in the second half of the season 5 finale?  In part one, there was a bit of a bump after their forest wedding was evacuated due to a wildfire.  It’s been such a long time coming, so hopefully things will turn out just fine as they say their vows.  But if we know anything about this show, it won’t be smooth.  Something will go wrong once more.  Surely.  But it will be hilarious when it happens!

Mixology – “Closing Time” – 9:30 PM – ABC

Sadly, this is not only the season 1 finale but also the series finale.  It was nice knowing you, Mixology.  If you’ve been keeping up with this group, you will find out what Liv decides about Ron, as well as how things end up for nice-guy Tom.

Catfish: The TV Show – “Antoinette & Albert” – 10 PM – MTV

In the third episode of season 3, a woman named Antoinette hopes to meet a rapper (Albert) she met on Instagram.  By the looks of the previews though, she shows up with Nev and Max at one of Albert’s shows, unexpectedly.  Confrontation!!  Can’t wait for this one!

Last Comic Standing – 9 PM – NBC

Love to laugh?  Great, this is the show for you!  Roseanne Barr, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Russell Peters serve as the judges for this 13-episode reality competition to find America’s next best comic. Catch the season 8 premiere tonight!

Go see a movie with your friends!  :)

Okay, what did I miss?  Anything?  I’m sad to see some of my favorite shows end for the season (and some, forever) but I’m also very excited for the summer premieres of PLL and Switched at Birth!  I love those ABC Family dramas.

What will you be tuning into?
