It’s about time!  Longtime couple Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka got married on Saturday in Italy.  They exchanged vows surrounded by friends and family, including their kids, who played special roles.  Oranges were handed out, a How I Met Your Mother colleague officiated the ceremony, and a worldwide superstar performed. Needless to say, it was legen-wait for it…

Harris and Burtka have been dating for more than 10 years, but waited to announce their engagement until the Marriage Equality Act in New York was passed in June 2011.

They wore custom Tom Ford tuxedos while How I Met Your Mother director and producer Pam Fryman officiated the ceremony.

Live! with Kelly & Michael host Kelly Ripa attended the wedding and shared details on Monday’s show.

They rented a castle—or, I think they rented it! I hope we didn’t break into a castle. It was a really beautiful. Sir Elton John performed. There were fireworks. The food was amazing.  There were magic tricks, because you know, Neil is way into magic.”

The grooms’ children, Gideon and Harper, even got to be a part of their dads’ special day.  According to Ripa, Harper was the flower girl, but Gideon insisted on being “the orange boy” instead of the ring bearer.  So he did what any orange boy would do and passed out oranges as he walked down the aisle.

Harris confirmed the marriage over Twitter by posting the following tweet along with a photo from the wedding.

Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the ‘n’ and ‘d’ in ‘husband’.

…dary.

Ugh, I love this couple so much.  Their wedding sounds like it was a blast and I wish them nothing but the best!
