Summer Somethings: Your Perfect Playlist

It’s officially summer for me!  A new season and tons of free time (minus my online classes, ew) means that I need a new playlist for chill days in my hammock and long road trips — so maybe you’re in the same boat! I have taken the liberty of composing a playlist of songs that are hot as the weather right now (in Florida, at least).  Whether you are a musical theatre geek, loyal to country music, or like to stick to the Top 40 charts, I think there’s something on here that everyone can enjoy.

You knew I was going to blog about this.

The year was 1989.  Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” was hitting the radio just as Whitney Houston’s “So Emotional” was taking a backseat.  And who could forget “Man In The Mirror” by Michael Jackson and “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler?  It was a shining year for music (as was the whole decade), but it was also the year that God gave us Taylor Swift.

In her Yahoo! livestream this afternoon, Swift announced that her latest album, “1989,” will pay homage to the “endless possibility” of the late 80’s pop she and her fans grew up with. And the fans could not be more ready.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard any new music from superstar Taylor Swift, so with the announcement of her Yahoo! livestream next Monday comes a lot of anticipation that she will be announcing her fifth album.  Her fans (the Swifties, mind you) had even hoped that she would let the cat out of the bag during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night.  But if there’s one thing Taylor Swift is any good at (besides sweeping award shows), it’s leaving room for speculation.
